“LOST IN NEBRASKA” AND OTHER CYCLING ADVENTURES

How did two college professors and a retired elementary school teacher become Cycling Babes? Join us to hear about their fast-paced and exciting journey from Seattle to St. Louis. Things really get interesting when the trio gets “lost in Nebraska.” They’ll share stories from touring Canada and, by the way, Mary Jo has cycled across the U.S.A. twice!

The Military Women's Memorial: A Gem in Plain Sight

Presented by Judy Pearson, Retired Colonel, United States Air Force and Ohio Ambassador, the Military Women's Memorial

Our Country has one major, national memorial solely dedicated to honoring and preserving the legacy of women who have defended our freedom. Col. Pearson will weave the history of this Memorial with a brief "tour" of the facility and its special relationship with the Honor Guards of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Special emphasis will be placed on "why it is important to capture women's stories now? www.womensmemorial.org.

Beginning Again: Ohio Justice and Policy Center

Hear the compelling story of an 11-year-old child who was unjustly incarcerated for 23 years and rebounded to become a contributing member of society during this College Club program featuring the subject of the story herself: Tyra Patterson.  Having earned her GED and studied to become a paralegal, Tyra was exonerated in January, 2017, and reoriented herself into our community.  Upon meeting Tyra, you will be amazed at the resiliency of the human spirit as displayed by this delightful and energetic young woman.

A LIGHT IN THE DARK: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND SUPPORT

This presentation will emphasize the YWCA’s four pillars of service as part of its domestic violence program:

(1) domestic violence, (2) red flags, (3) safety planning and (4) resources and support. You’ll learn how this program partners with local agencies to coordinate services for victims. It’s important to know that the 24-hour YWCA Domestic Violence Hotline provides crisis counseling, risk assessment and support for those in Hamilton, Clermont, Brown and Adams counties. www.ywcacincinnati.org.
