This program will celebrate Cincinnati broadcast history with a special emphasis on the radio station WMKV, Ruth Lyons and Paul Dixon and how their legacies are relevant today.  Our speaker is the co-founder of Media Heritage, Inc., the not-for-profit archival library and museum of Cincinnati radio and television history, based at the Voice of America Museum in West Chester.

Board Meeting at 11:00 am.

Luncheon in the Lecture Room at 12:00 pm.

Cincinnati’s National Underground Railroad Freedom Center is a museum of conscience, an education center, a convenor of dialogue, and a beacon of light for inclusive freedom throughout the globe. It reveals stories of freedom’s heroes – and “she-roes” – from the past to contemporary times. This program focuses on Cincinnati women who played an important part in our local history.

Mrs. Kaye Browning is the curator and owner of the Kathleen Savage Browning Miniatures Collection at the Kentucky Gateway Museum Center in Maysville, Kentucky.  It is one of the most extensive assemblages of one-twelfth-scale miniatures in the world.  Kaye will share her philosophy of collecting and also present special pieces from the gallery.

A LIGHT IN THE DARK: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND SUPPORT

This presentation will emphasize the YWCA’s four pillars of service as part of its domestic violence program:

(1) domestic violence, (2) red flags, (3) safety planning and (4) resources and support. You’ll learn how this program partners with local agencies to coordinate services for victims. It’s important to know that the 24-hour YWCA Domestic Violence Hotline provides crisis counseling, risk assessment and support for those in Hamilton, Clermont, Brown and Adams counties. www.ywcacincinnati.org.
