There has never been a more important time than now for us to take especially good care of ourselves. This talk will remind us all of the daily self-care choices we can make, including physical activities, fresh foods and nutrients, adequate sleep and rest, and meaningful social relationships. Learn about the value of dancing, gardening, music, literature, and arts and crafts as ways to stay the course for lifelong health and vitality.

Organized in 1980, FRIENDS OF THE GROOM is a traveling drama company that presents short vignettes with powerful messages that will touch your heart.  The vignettes are conversations between ordinary people who are in difficult situations or are at turning points in their lives.  This meaningful presentation will be entertaining while bringing comfort and inspiration to you.

Living With Dementia: New Possibilities Through Art

People with dementia may have been robbed of their memory, but not their creative capacity.  Learn about Opening Minds through Art (OMA), a groundbreaking intergenerational program, based at Miami University since 2007.  We’ll hear from its founding director, Dr. Elizabeth “Like” Lokon, MGS, Ph.D. who is also a gerontologist, educator and Senior Research Associate at Miami’s Scripps Gerontology Center.  The program’s mission is “to build bridges across ages and cognitive barriers through art.”

A LIGHT IN THE DARK: DOMESTIC VIOLENCE PREVENTION AND SUPPORT

This presentation will emphasize the YWCA’s four pillars of service as part of its domestic violence program:

(1) domestic violence, (2) red flags, (3) safety planning and (4) resources and support. You’ll learn how this program partners with local agencies to coordinate services for victims. It’s important to know that the 24-hour YWCA Domestic Violence Hotline provides crisis counseling, risk assessment and support for those in Hamilton, Clermont, Brown and Adams counties. www.ywcacincinnati.org.
