TRANSATLANTIS: WHERE MUSIC EMBRACES TWO CONTINENTS

Presented by Sylvain Acher and fellow musicians

Cynthia Browne 0 2378 Article rating: No rating

The music of jazz guitarist Sylvain’s group is both fresh and attractive, yet also familiar.  This is because the compositions, all original, draw from many diverse styles.  This kind of “world music” is all tied together by lyrically crafted melodies, choice harmonies, and Sylvain’s French vocals – vocals that can be wistful (N’fais pas d’betises) to positively gritty (New Orleans).

She’ll include some background and interesting personal stories of the life and times of this legendary entertainer. As one of Cincinnati’s busiest vocalists, Nancy performs with orchestras, Big Bands, and trios. The New Horizons Dixieland Band of Cincinnati offers jazz and blues in addition to Dixieland tunes.  The band is composed of men and women and includes five graduates of music conservatories.  The other musicians are amateurs who love playing this peppy and fun kind of music.  Audiences of all ages find the beat and toe-tapping melodies irresistible.  A sing-along featuring holiday favorites will allow the audience to join in the merriment.
