Fried clams, grilled hot dogs and 28 flavors of ice cream! Who can forget a meal at Howard Johnson’s as we traveled across the country? There are many things to tell about the legendary restaurateur who was the first to introduce franchising to the industry.

SWEET TALK ABOUT ESTHER PRICE

It’s the 100-year Anniversary of this famous candy business which is still going strong and headquartered in Esther’s hometown of Dayton, Ohio. Did you know that in the 1920s, she made fudge at night to earn extra money for her family and then sold it door to door? Today, many of the company’s products are still handmade and feature Esther’s original recipes. A 13-minute video will be shown.

THE MUSIC OF THE WOMEN OF THE CIVIL WAR

His wife Lisa is also a musician who will lend her vocal talents as well as her upright bass to this performance.
