Since 2018, The Cincy Noteables, a “Sweet Adeline, barbershop quartet,” has entertained its audiences through a variety of music and song. Their repertoire consists of old standards, dance tunes, love songs, patriotic tunes and Broadway hits. Please help us start the year with some music in your heart!

Patriotic Program

Due to circumstances beyond our control, the CWC Players production of “Mamma in Cucina” has been cancelled. 

Instead, the program will be a patriotic program featuring the songs of Irving Berlin, George M. Cohan and John Phillip Sousa.  There will be audience participation (a sing along) which will have you clapping your hands and tapping your feet.  Please join us for an enjoyable afternoon.

Beginning at the October 29 meeting (as well as November 19,) we will be collecting your new clothing donations for infants/toddlers, boys or girls, ages 0-2 years. Suggestions include coats, dresses, pants, tops, sleepers, pajamas, etc.  Please refer to your yearbook for more information about this great organization that helps pregnant teens and their families.

ROSEMARY’S BABIES: HELPING PREGNANT TEENS AND THEIR FAMILIES

The Rosemary’s Babies Company focuses on eradicating teen pregnancy and ending the cycle of poverty for teen parents and their families. Rosemary Oglesby-Henry, director, will share her own life experience, the impetus for starting this organization as well as her dreams for Holloway House. Our Scholarship Award recipients will be honored at this meeting. Rosemary’s Babies is our main philanthropy project in 2022. A list of the items you can contribute by this meeting will be available in October. Stay tuned!

LA SALLE BOYS’ ENSEMBLE: IT’S HOLIDAY MUSIC TIME!

Our annual holiday concert, filled with favorites, will introduce us to this talented and well-traveled musical group! Not long ago, the LaSalle Ensemble performed in a series of events in France to commemorate the beginning of the European liberation for World War II. On June 4, the Ensemble even participated in a parade and concert held in the town square of Sainte Mere Eglise. For the past seven years, the school has held an annual assembly to honor veterans which eventually led to this global opportunity!

LAST MILE FOOD RESCUE: ENDING HUNGER IN OUR NEIGHBORHOODS

Last Mile is a Cincinnati food rescue organization that started in October, 2020 with the goal of getting fresh food “out of landfills and onto the plates of those needing it most.” Using a combination of computer technology and its growing volunteer base, the group has already successfully networked with 13 area Kroger stores to rescue 660,729 pounds of fresh food! And that is just one example! Volunteers choose where they want to deliver the food at a time that is convenient to them! Come learn how you too can make a critical difference in the lives of your neighbors fighting food insecurity.

TRANSATLANTIS: WHERE MUSIC EMBRACES TWO CONTINENTS

The music of jazz guitarist Sylvain’s group is both fresh and attractive, yet also familiar.  This is because the compositions, all original, draw from many diverse styles.  This kind of “world music” is all tied together by lyrically crafted melodies, choice harmonies, and Sylvain’s French vocals – vocals that can be wistful (N’fais pas d’betises) to positively gritty (New Orleans).
