TRANSATLANTIS: WHERE MUSIC EMBRACES TWO CONTINENTS

Presented by Sylvain Acher and fellow musicians

Cynthia Browne 0 2418 Article rating: No rating

The music of jazz guitarist Sylvain’s group is both fresh and attractive, yet also familiar.  This is because the compositions, all original, draw from many diverse styles.  This kind of “world music” is all tied together by lyrically crafted melodies, choice harmonies, and Sylvain’s French vocals – vocals that can be wistful (N’fais pas d’betises) to positively gritty (New Orleans).

For over 25 years, the Polished Brass has been providing music for tri-state audiences. Backed by its large library of brass quintet music and with talented musicians to bring it all to life, it’s easy to see why this group is called on so often for summer concerts, weddings, graduations, and more. It was dubbed the “instant orchestra” by Jim Knippenberg, former Cincinnati Enquirer columnist, because it came together so quickly. CINCINNATI BOYCHOIR: RHYTHMS OF CELEBRATION

DIRECTED BY JASON HOLMES, ARTISTIC DIRECTOR, AND LISA PETERS, ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR

Glenna Baumbaugh 0 3750 Article rating: No rating

Cincinnati Boychoir will present a joyful concert of holiday music!  It is a choir for male youth of all musical abilities from across the Greater Cincinnati Region.  Founded in 1965, the Boychoir is a teaching and performing organization that offers musical enrichment, performance, and touring opportunities.  Our vocal ensembles are directed by professional music educators who teach a curriculum not only of musical skills but cultural appreciation, empathy, self-discipline, leadership, mentorship, and a spirit of volunteerism.  Boys from grades 3-12 attend weekly rehearsals, and commit from 6 weeks to a full academic year. Each week, boys come together for a combined rehearsal in which older boys are empowered as big brothers to younger boys, teaching them the nuts and bolts of music and singing, as well as how to tie their bowtie and more. We present approximately twenty annual performances in the greater Cincinnati region, and have performed concerts and completed residencies both at home and abroad. We strive to make the Boychoir accessible to all boys, regardless of race, ethnicity, or socioeconomic need, so they all have the opportunity to experience the life changing impact of immersive arts participation.  Patrick Apfelbeck is their Program Coordinator.
